FG says - NIM is Mandatory  for Foreigners Reside for Two Years Above

 Diplomats who will be residents in the country for more than two years have been directed by the federal government to get they national identify number NIM.

Femi Adeluyi,  technical assistance to minister of communication and digital economy. Isa Pantami said in a statement released on Sunday January 17 that an enrollment center is been set up following the request by Geoffrey Onyeama. Minister of foreign affairs.

The released statement;

"The minister of communication and digital economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has approved the setting up of the national identity number NIM enrollment center at the federal ministry of foreign affairs.

The desk will be set up by Tuesday 19 of January 2021, this enrollment center will provide support for members of the diplomats corps and will be manage by the federal ministry of communication and digital economy through national identity management commission.

The center is been set up based on the request of the honorable minister of foreign affairs ,Geoffrey Onyeama in other to simplify the process for diplomats.

The national identity number is mandatory for diplomats who will reside in Nigeria for a continuous of two years or more.

 The statement added that it is mandatory for lawful residents in Nigeria to have NIM.
